Here you can find answers to those questions that are most commonly asked by our users. We welcome you to contact us at any time for support on any of our products, but to save yourself some time, please check here for answers first. Q: When I attempt to run one of your products, I get an error message stating that some DLL or OCX file is missing or not registered. What's wrong and where can I get the missing file? A: Some files were excluded from our installation packages due to their size and the fact that the majority of users will already have these files present on their systems. In case you do not, read on. All of our products are written in the Visual Basic 6 programming language. This means that in order for them to run properly, you must have the Microsoft Visual Basic 6 Runtime Library installed on your computer. This package can be downloaded from the "Support Files" section of our Download Page and installed simply by double-clicking the file in Windows Explorer after its downloaded. Some of our programs also require a file named "MSCOMCTL.OCX" to be present in your "Windows/System" folder in order to run properly. This file can also be downloaded from the "Support Files" section of our Download Page. Q: Are your programs Mac compatible? A: No. All of our products are Windows/PC based except for our CGI scripts, which run on Unix or Windows platforms. Q:Are all of your freeware products really free? If so, why? A: All of our Windows products are free to download and use. The cost for development and distribution is subsidized through relationships with advertising partners. Q: Does your software install spyware on my computer? A: No. Our programs are bundled with another application called SaveNow which installs alongside our products to offset costs of distribution and development. We are paid a fee of $.06 for each time this product is installed by a user along with one of our products in the United States. Contrary to popular belief, this is not spyware and does not send any private, personal information about you to anywhere. For complete details about this product visit this link. Q: After installing one of your products, I noticed a new menu item on my Internet Explorer context menus that says "Free Software". How dare you infiltrate and overtake my computer that way? How can I get rid of it? A: OK, sorry. Some people download our software from other software directories such as download.com, etc. and never visit our site to see the other free titles we offer. We are NOT a major company, and we're NOT getting rich, but we would like as many people as possible to see what we have to offer, so we do this to invite users to visit our site. Nothing about Internet Explorer is modified physically or permanently to create the menu item. It is simply an entry added to the Windows Registry during installation which Microsoft has allowed for if users wish to modify their own context menus. The menu item is automatically removed if and when you uninstall any of our products or you can remove it yourself following these simple directions: Open Regdit by selecting "Run" from your Start Menu. Enter "Regedit" in the space provided and click "OK". In the left pane of the Regedit window, navigate to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\Free Software. Delete it by right-clicking the key name "Free Software" and selecting "Delete" from the pop-up menu. Q: Are your order forms for your commercial products secure? A: To process orders, we contract the services of one of the Internet's oldest and most respected order processing companies, Register Now. Our order forms are completely secure and safe to use. |
